BirdLife International is a global
partnership of conservation organisations actively working to protect and
conserve wildbirds and their habitats, demonstrating the rich diversity
of biological life on earth.
An International Partnership
BirdLife International is truly a global
partnership, working in over 100 countries worldwide, with national Partners
in 61 countries and representatives in a further 30. Each Partner organisations
represents BirdLife International in its own territory. Where there is
no Partner, an organisation or individual may become a BirdLife Representative.
Setting Priorities
BirdLife International is the leading authority
on the status of the world's birds, their habitats and the urgent problems
which they face.
BirdLife International holds the most up-to-date
information in the world on global bird populations and distributions.
Through research and data collection, BirdLife International identifies
priorities for birds and biodiversity conservation and publishes the results.
BirdLife International also compiles the official list of the world’s globally
threatened birds.
Advocacy
The BirdLife International Partnership,
promotes ‘common positions’ on the priority policies for the conservation
of species, sites and habitats based upon clearly identified and agreed
priorities. By working together globally and regionally, and supporting
each other's efforts nationally, the Partnership represents a powerful
voice to influence governments and decision makers around the world.
Action
BirdLife International promotes the protection
of the environmental component of sustainable development, and is involved
with local communities in ‘country programmes’ around the world. |
